Torrid Girl

Hey Guys! Bea here!

This post is obviously off my Monday schedule, but it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to sit down and draw something random of interest, and since I just finished it, I want to share it!

Briefly though, I’d like to mention that there are moments when I run into someone I find interesting when I’m out and about. Maybe I liked their hair, their clothes, their face or  their style. Whatever it is, something about them just makes me want to draw them.

Torrid Girl just so happens to be one of those unique individuals I came across one day, while shopping at Torrid (hence the name, lol!)

I’m a shy person. It takes a lot for me to muster up the courage to ask someone I don’t know if I can take their picture to draw them. Ironically, she seemed to be just as shy to be approached! But she was a very sweet girl– the type of person who I felt that if I had the chance to get to know her, we could be friends.

Unfortunately I never got her name– but I did give her one of my cards, so hopefully she stumbles across this some day, wherever she may be 🙂

Please forgive my sucky camera– it doesn’t take the best photos, but this is the shot she allowed me to take, that I used as reference for my painting.

The painting itself was created using my new Surface Pro 4– which is awesome for artists btw. I purchased it for myself for Christmas this year so that I could get more in the swing of drawing traditionally, but digitally. It’s a great tool that I’m considering doing a review on, but it takes some getting used to. Painting Torrid Girl was excellent practice, however, I’m still trying to get to understand my brushes better.

Again, a kind thanks to Torrid Girl, for allowing me to draw you, and I hope that somehow this post finds you.

To all those reading, I hope you liked this post, and as always, till next time, Enjoy !

Back in Beasness!

Hey guys! Bea here!

It’s been a looong time since my last post, so I figured I’d open up with a fun and friendly pun!

A lot has happened on my end, resulting in a 5 month hiatus. Considering all the memes going around about how 2016 screwed so many people over, I doooont think I’m alone when I say it’s been a tough year!

This video sums it up perfectly lol! but in that time, which I spent getting things in order again,  I was able to produce a lot of art that I’m now ready to share with you all. Some of it has made it on my Instagram, which I use for quick-shares, but as far as my blog is concerned, I love to sit down and make things a bit more intimate and informative.

Anyway! I have enough work set aside to write about for the next couple of months, and I can’t wait to share it all with you as we go into this new year! That said, I’ll be resuming my Monday Evening Posts, so every Monday, I’ll share some new artwork with you, and tell you a bit about it!

To kick this thing off, I’d like to share a piece I did for a good of mine, Felipe Cagno, who commissioned me to Illustrate a postcard for his up and coming comic: Escolhas (in English: Choices) – launch in 2017

Choices tells the story of John Humberto, friendly boy who grows with an impossible dream: to become the world’s first superhero. It is this pursuit of this dream that influences all the choices of his life, from the college course to his first job and his first love.

Felipe, who wrote this story, wrote it to inspire all of us to not give up our dreams, to work for them and always move forward! That said, I think it fitting to feature this one first– because like him, no matter how hard things get– it’s good to be reminded how important it is to keep going!

Anyway, it feels good to be back!  I hope you liked this post, and as always, till next time, Enjoy !
